Solution
Specifically, the anchor restaurant tenants of the pier, El Torito and Barney’s Beanery, desired to rehab their façade and replace existing signage with vintage neon elements. Due a number of restrictions by the California Coastal Commission and the pier’s historical zoning laws, the project required all labor to be conducted overnight. Additionally, due to sea water corrosion, Tyko took extra precautions and used a very specific scissor lift to preserve the delicate structure of the wooden pier.
Result
The neon signage contrasted against the backdrop of the marked the beginning of a multi-year redevelopment, which is still underway and in review with the city.
